April's Coffee of the Month

Origin: Guatemala, Central America
Body: Full-bodied
Roast: Medium-Strong Roast (4)
Summary of taste: Honey and chocolate sweetness
Whittard recommends: Using a filter, cafetière or pour over and enjoying black or with milk according to taste
When to drink: Whenever you need a kick-start

This coffee really is the giant of all coffees! It delivers a huge taste from a huge bean, undeniably strong but without any hint of bitterness. It is a great way to kick-start the day or stave off that mid-afternoon lull.

Gold Winner of the Great Taste Awards in 2011, the judges described our Guatemala Elephant Coffee as a "Heavy roast that actually delivers. Well balanced flavours. No ashiness and some gentle chocolate notes. Big, brave and bold - and it worked."

The coffee gets its name from its enormous beans, grown on Arabica bushes on small plantations on the fertile volcanic slopes of Lake Atitlan. Extremely rare and highly prized, the plantations combine their precious harvests and take them to local cooperatives to be pulped. The massive elephant beans are roasted to a deep shade of mahogany to bring out their rich full-bodied taste.

Guatemalan Elephant Coffee is a decadently rich coffee for any time of day, with a delicious hint of chocolate and oozing honey sweetness.

For the freshest and best tasting coffee, please consume within 4 weeks.

Someone bought me a taster pack of different Whittards coffees (I'm a big coffee fan) and the Elelphant stood (as you would expect of an elephant) head and shoulders above the rest! It's big and bold but still gentle on the palette.

No other beans come close to Guatemala Elephant...strong roast with no bitter taste, very smooth. It's a shame the foil bags aren't always used for this coffee as I buy in bulk

I love this coffee, Simply adore the aroma and taste, I was shocked when i first saw the size of the beans, They take a little longer to grind but well worth the effort, Recommend this coffee to everyone

Have had this for special treats a few times. The aroma is amazing and the flavour is to 'die for'! If you ever want to try just one coffee, then this is the one - I just love it!

I've been buying Guatemala Elephant dark roast coffee for a number of years now. It is absolutely one of my favourites - very rich and strong but not at all bitter. Expensive but worth it.
