Our Charities

Whittard is keen to "give something back" to the community or environment where it operates. As such a number of projects run through the year to ensure we make a contribution outside the purely commercial sphere of our main activity.

Since 2002 we have been involved with fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Relief primarily through our support for 'The World's Biggest Coffee Morning'. Since our first year, the total that we have raised has increased year on year (2004 total £18,586).

This has been made possible by the efforts of all our teams throughout the country collecting customer donations, making personal pledges and undertaking a variety of sponsored events from "head shaving" to sponsored silences, from the Main Board of Directors running our Regent Street shop for the day to 2 of our employees participating in the Peak District challenge.

We have also ran children's art competitions and engineered as much activity as possible in-store to raise the profile of the Macmillan charity.

Our shops are often involved in local initiatives or charity events in their neighbourhood through personally established links, and we do what we can to support any activity of this kind.

In addition we are currently undertaking a review of our recycling facilities as we have recognised a need to improve our performance in this area.  We aim to take a responsible role in the communities we operate in and do what we can to minimise our environmental impact.
