Origin: South Africa Leaf Type: Rooibos Taste: Fruity and floral Drink: Black or with milk and sugar to taste Brew: 3-5 minutes according to taste When to drink: A fruity, caffeine-free drink for any time of day
Take a sip of this delicious flavoured Rooibos and it immediately brings to mind warm, blueberry muffins. It is a naturally caffeine-free drink with a distinctive berry taste that is instantly refreshing.
Low in tannin, Rooibos is a hugely popular tea, drunk for its alleged health benefits as well as its individual flavour. Rooibos (literally meaning 'Redbush' in Afrikaans) grows only in the Cederberg mountain area of South Africa, on small shrubby bushes that produce its green, needle like leaves. When fermented, the leaves turn red, making a rich-coloured full-bodied tea.
To create Blueberry Rooibos's soft, fruity flavour we have added a mixture of blueberries, elderberry and rosehip. The result is a sweet and luscious blend that can be enjoyed at any time of the day.
Ideally warm the pot first with a splash of hot water. Use one teaspoon (around 2g) per cup and always use freshly drawn and boiled water. Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes according to taste. Should be drunk without milk.
Usually I don't like fruit teas as I find them very wishy washy but this tea is beautiful! It's delicious with milk and a squirt of honey and leaves the taste of blueberry muffins in your mouth. My favourite tea for any time of the day, would give it 6 stars if I could.
