Origin: South Africa Leaf Type: Rooibos Taste: Naturally sweet and spicy Drink: Without milk Brew: 3-5 minutes according to taste When to drink: A sweet and spicy caffeine-free drink for any time of day
Ginger and Honey Flavour Rooibos is a heart-warming and soothing drink. It combines refreshing Rooibos with the classic pairing of ginger and honey.
Low in tannin, Rooibos is a hugely popular tea, drunk for its alleged health benefits as well as its individual flavour. Rooibos (literally meaning 'Redbush' in Afrikaans) grows only in the Cederberg mountain area of South Africa, on small shrubby bushes that produce its green, needle like leaves. When fermented, the leaves turn red, making a rich-coloured full-bodied tea.
Ginger and Honey Flavour Rooibos is a sweet but spicy infusion that is both comforting and irresistibly delicious.
Ideally warm the pot first with a splash of hot water. Use one teaspoon (around 2g) per cup and always use freshly drawn and boiled water. Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes according to taste. Should be drunk without milk.
You know how stilton cheese smells disgusting but tastes amazing? Well, this ginger and honey tea is not like that. This tea smells so strongly of perfume when you open it; it made me gag! I hoped that the flavour would be different to the aroma but alas; drinking it almost made me sick. This is THE WORST thing I have ever tasted! Definitely an acquired taste...
