Ceramics designer Dinah Body is well known for her contemporary twists on tradition, and this elegant interpretation of classic Willow pattern porcelain adds a touch of modern wit to the typical tea table. The Willow pattern first became popular in the 18th century, inspired by ceramics imported from China, and a number of fables tell of how the pattern came into being.
Dinah’s design has been inspired by the old tale of two lovers in ancient China, who eloped the day the blossom fell from the willow tree. Meeting a tragic fate at the hands of a wicked duke, the gods took pity and transformed the lovers into a pair of doves. Extracts from these romantic scenes dance across the tea set – complete the story with the full range, featuring a teapot, cup and saucer, mug, tea bowl and milk jug.
