1886 was an era of innovation in London when Mr Whittard opened his original shop. The first electric lights glowed in windows; the Underground was still being built and ran on steam. Inspired by the changes around him, Mr Whittard invented this strong but smooth tea. He blended Assam, a new malty tea from India, with aromatic Keemun to produce a taste of the times.
