Margaret’s Hope eagerly awaited 2014 First Flush is an outstanding Darjeeling for the connoisseur. The prized young shoots produce a sublimely light and mellow tea to savour throughout the day.
The tea’s exquisite taste pays homage to the enchantingly beautiful tea garden where the bushes are grown. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas amongst wild flowers, velvety moss and orchids, with views of the distant mountains, they produce one of the most sought-after teas in the word.
Margaret’s Hope Estate is one of Darjeeling’s oldest tea gardens, and still uses traditional methods to produce its tea. Established in 1859 and originally called Bara-Ringtong after the two rivers that flow through the estate, it was re-named in the 1920s after Margaret, the owner’s daughter. On her only visit to the garden Margaret fell in love with the incredible landscape and vowed to make it her home. She sadly died on the voyage back to England and the garden was named in her memory.
Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling is a classic Darjeeling, displaying the right balance of flavours that make this tea so prized. It has a fragrant, nearly floral sweetness, with overtones that can be compared to a fine muscatel wine. It is a tea to be savoured at any time of the day.
