Rich, warm eucalyptus notes...

In the words of the novelist Henry James: “There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.” Our signature tea for after three is a beautiful balance of black and green tea, with flavours of bergamot and a sweet scattering of petals.

A Gold winner in the 2012 Great Taste Awards,the judges described it as having “Good quality leaves delivering rich, warm eucalyptus notes.” We’d recommend combining it with a slice of lemon drizzle cake…

Ingredients

Brew the perfect cup

Ideally warm the pot first with a splash of hot water. Use one teaspoon (around 2g) per cup and always use freshly drawn and boiled water. Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes according to taste. Can be drunk with or without milk.

A note from Whittard

“I’m a huge salted caramel fan, so it’s fair to say I was pretty fussy when it came to the recipe for our Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate – it took months to perfect, but I’d say it’s the very best one out there!”

- Lucy, Specialist Cocoa Assistant Buyer

Blended

Ever since our founder Walter Whittard weighed out tea leaves behind his high mahogany counter, we’ve been experimenting with our own inventive blends. The Chinese were the first to try blending tea leaves with fruits and flowers and it takes time, skill and imagination to master the art. It’s all about creating the perfect balance of flavours: we blind taste at least 20 different variations before settling on the perfect recipe. Just as some musicians have perfect pitch, an expert tea blender needs to have some pretty perceptive tastebuds…

A lovely taste,blending strength and depth of flavour with a flowery edge. Delicious !!

The Bergamot is too strong and the tea very bitter. Nothing like a traditional afternoon. Very disappointed and expensive.

Picked some of this up out of curiosity (I love jasmine green tea, so the idea of including that in a black tea blend intregued me) at the end of a brief but busy afternoon in town. Got home and we brewed up a pot... no sugar or milk required (and I'm usually 2 sugars and enough milk to make the tea opaque...). Very uplifting, I think I have a new firm favorite!

* * * * * The tea that makes me tea addict by Aida Mustapha on 20th December 2013

I love Morrocan mint tea (other brand) and fruit tea (also Whittard's, but not sure which one), but I never love black tea until I tried Whittard's Afternoon blend last year. My cousin bought a few tiny tins and gave one to all our family members. I received Breakfast tea. My aunt receive the Afternoon blend. One day I went to visit her, and she made me this tea. I declined at first but she was raving about the deliciousness of the tea, so I got curious and tried a sip. It was smooth, it was refreshing, it was decadent, it was tantalizing! It was the perfect tea! I finished a cup and asked for second. Now, if only Whittard's of Chelsea is available in Malaysia....

* * * * * This was the tea that got me introduced to Whittard\\\'s by Hans-Christian Fath on 22nd November 2013

Strolling by mere chance into one of the stores during a trip to England, I tried to give it a try. I never regretted it. A lovely blend especially in winter with some gingerbread. Tastes great just by itself, too. A tea that keeps you happy.
