April's Coffee of the Month: Guatemala Elephant

Guatemala Elephant is April's Coffee of the Month, making it our highlighed bean this month. We love the full bodied flavour of the medium/dark roast with notes of chocolate and honey sweetness.

To match April's Tea of the Month, this month's chosen coffee is also a Great Taste Award winner, picking up the Gold prize in 2011. The judges' feedback was full of praise, stating that it's a "heavy roast that actually delivers. Well balanced flavours. No ashiness and some gentle chocolate notes. Big, brave and bold - and it worked."

With its striking wholebeans and complex taste profile, Guatemala Elephant has definitely earnt it's status as one of the best-loved coffees in our range, especially with glowing reviews like above. Cultivated on the fertile volcanic slopes of Lake Atitlán, the giant, glossy Guatemala Maragogype beans are quite a curiosity, dwarfing most other beans at almost triple the size. They also trumpet a bold flavour, with deep roasted bass tones, soft fruity top notes, finished with a smooth, well-balanced chocolatey sweetness.

We'd recommend brewing this bean using an AeroPress, Stove Top or Cafetière and enjoying black or with milk according to taste. It's the perfect bean to kick-start the day.
