Tea Experience Morning at Regent Street St James Tea Bar

We recently hosted a competition through the Regent Street Association’s brand new Chinese website and social media platforms, where one lucky winner would be invited to a Tea Experience morning at our Regent Street St James store.

The lucky winner was Haoxue Lui, an international postgraduate student from China, currently studying and spending her first year in London. Here’s how she entered and her thoughts on the Tea Experience day…

Hi Haoxue, please tell us a little more about how you won the competition…
It was quite easy. To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Regent Street Association and Whittard of Chelsea organized a competition on a Chinese social network site. By reposting their message, I had the chance to be selected as the winner of the amazing prize provided my Whittard of Chelsea, the Tea Experience! As you can see, I was chosen as the lucky winner!

So you attended the Tea Experience day at our Regent Street St James store, which teas did you try?
We tasted various types of tea in the tea bar. From the very traditional British flavoured black tea, Earl Grey, to the fresh iced tea made by mango & bergamot loose tea. We also tried Darjeeling, Margaret’s Hope, Formosa Jade Oolong, Gyokuro Asahi, Jasmine Dragon Pearls, Darjeeling Arya Pearls, and some lovely cakes too!

Which was your favourite?
I prefer teas with a fresh and sweet flavour. My favourite one was the Jasmine Dragon Pearl tea.

What did you think of the Tea Bar itself?
We enjoyed our tea experience in a comfortable and relaxing environment. All of the food and drinks are really good quality. The friendly and knowledgeable staff gave us detailed introduction to each tea, the production process and recommended brewing method for each type of the tea we tasted. It was very helpful for finding out my preferred tea type! It is a great place to relax with friends. I would like to return to the tea bar in future to taste some of the other types of tea I didn’t try this time!

Many thanks to Haoxue for answering our questions about the Tea Experience Morning, congratulations once again!

Here's a little more information about our Regent Street St James Tea Bar:
We opened our newly refurbished store, complete with sparkly new Tea Bar, last year. It's a great place to sit down for a superb selection of our signature tea, coffee and cocoa, accompanied by the perfect little cakes and sweet treats. A savoury selection will also be coming soon!
