Product Details

Origin: Blended
Body: Full-bodied
Roast: Strong Roast (5)
Summary of taste: High roasted intensity
Whittard recommends: Using an espresso machine and enjoying as an espresso, latte or cappuccino
When to drink: A versatile blend for different types of coffee throughout the day

Drink your coffee like the Italians do with Whittard's classic Espresso blend. Intensely smooth and full-bodied, it is the embodiment of Continental style.

Four beans from around the world have been combined to create our perfectly balanced espresso blend. The beans from India and Ethiopia are strong and complex, those from Costa Rica and Brazil mellow and smooth. The secret to a great espresso lies in the roasting. These beans have been roasted as they are in the North of Italy to give the blend a rich golden brown and to tease out all the subtle nuances of the beans. The result is an intensely smooth blend guaranteed to give your espresso its essential rich hazel crema.

The best way to drink Whittard's Espresso is solo, as a single shot, but its high roasted intensity and full-bodied strength make it perfect for lattes and cappuccinos, too.

For the freshest and best tasting coffee, please consume within 4 weeks.

* - - - - poor quality by sue barker on 19th February 2013

I used to buy all my coffee beans at wittards and when i returned to the uk I went to the local wittards and bought the expresso beans expecting a good quality coffee. Sadly i was most disapppointed what every happened to the qulaity coffe you used to sell. This coffe lacked smell and more importantly taste, there was more coffee flavour in a cheap instant.

* - - - - poor quality lacking taste by mark davies on 13th February 2013

I recently purchased this coffee and found it bland and tasteless, cheaper supermarket brands had much more flavour and cost about half the proice

* - - - - lacks a full flavour by keith etherington on 22nd January 2013

I recently puchased a bean to coffee making machine and decided to try several brands to compare. These beans were almost twice the price of other brands and had the less flavour than well known brands and supermarket own brands.

This is almost a great expresso blend - the problem is that it needs either slightly longer roasting or a change on one of the beans, but I can't quite make out which...or both.

Kenya is the largest tea producing country in Africa, with 69000 hectares of land under cultivation by smallholdings or shambas. Since first being established in 1903 the Kenyan tea industry has gone from strength to strength, profiting from a tropical climate, red volcanic soil and well-distributed rainfall. The sheer bulk of tea produced means it’s not always of the highest quality, and Kenyan tea has traditionally been used to add colour and strength to blends. Nevertheless it’s well worth seeking out the best single estate varieties. With their ripe, autumnal flavour and sweet hint of spice they’re well worth a cup of their own…
