Product Details

The perfect espresso to top off a regal feast...

Bourbon Arabica beans are known for their deep, buttery chocolate flavours, characterised by a strong sweetness and lightly fruity overtones. As Bourbon plants generally yield fewer coffee cherries, they’re one of the rarer varieties of bean – and with the right processing and roast they can produce a wonderfully well-balanced coffee. Our Bourbon Espresso is a case in point.

Combining the creamy sweetness and nutty complexity of Bourbon coffee beans from Brazil and El Salvador, with the dark chocolate sophistication of those from Sumatra, this full-bodied blend provides the perfect espresso to top off a regal feast. Now, where are those Bourbon biscuits..?

* * * - - Not fresh enough by Prem on 6th January 2018

The coffee tastes good, dark and full bodied. When using this in my machine the espresso is under extracted with a thin crema. It doesn’t perform as well as coffee I use that has a roasted on date within 1 week. I don’t think this coffee is fresh enough, would not buy again unless it has a roasted on date.

* * * * * So glad i chose this coffee by Susie on 3rd July 2017

After working a month in hand money was a bit tight. I Brought a shops own brand instant coffee omg awful. So I had to have a decent coffee. David's review dated Feb 15 on here. Has no comparison to shops own brand. This has excellent flavour aroma and smooth, I love a decent coffee and this ticks the box. I added the caramel hot chocolate to make a lovely mocha. Thank you Dave at Trentham shopping village for great customer service

* * * * * Delicious coffee by Pauline on 9th December 2016

This is one of our regular coffees that we buy for use in our Jura machine. Its robust but not overpowering or bitter, has good layers of flavour and crema, with a wonderful aroma

* * * * * Full flavoured but with some exotic notes as well. by Guy on 9th January 2016

I normally like totally full-on coffees like Old Brown Java and monsoon Malabar but I'm delighted I decided to give this a try. It has a pretty full-on flavour like the afore mentioned coffees with an added dose of other flavours to add interest. In an Aeropress it gives a beautiful, full flavour with a definite taste of orchids and lychees. In a Moka pot it has a biscuity, liquoricey taste. A new favourite!

* - - - - probably the worst coffee ever by david bates on 18th February 2015

i have tried many brands of coffee beans from supermarket own brands to expensive designer brands and cam honestly say this is the worst ever. Absolutely no taste less taste than supermarkets own brands value ranges best avoided. Shuld really have no stars

* * * * * Bourbon Espresso Beans by Emma on 8th May 2014

We've been buying and enjoying Whittard's espresso for a while now, but by happenstance had to try the Bourbon as the usual beans we buy were out of stock. We were not disappointed! This is delicious, strong and smooth and the crema is second to none. It has none of the bitter, harshness that can be synonymous with strong espresso and, on our second 1kg bag, there is no variation. Highly recommended.

The nicest coffee that i have bought to date.

* * * * * Nutty & sweet by HS on 11th July 2013

This coffee was my introduction to drinking black espresso blends, and I have to admit it's spoilt me for many harsher Italian espressos! Even black, it's powerfully creamy and rich, with nutty notes and a slight sweetness, without so much of the tarry ashiness of most espresso blends. Definitely a favourite.

* * * * * Ohhhh My G...... by IPW on 9th July 2013

My son and I have tried the whole range of coffee beans that Whittards offr, and a few more. This little number we came across towards the end of our journey. It meets my aims of a strong coffee and exceeds it by also providing multilayered tastes beyond that. not only nutty, but fruity. This gives me a tick in every box to indicate a wonderful coffee experience. This is my main bi-weekly purchase now.

Origin

Brazil

In the words of Frank Sinatra, ‘They’ve Got an Awful Lot of Coffee in Brazil’, and the country is the world’s dominant coffee supplier, producing over 3000kg of Arabica every year. Brazilian coffee are often heavy bodied and sweet, with deep chocolate and roasted nut flavours. They make the ideal base for a blend, but you’ll also find certain single estate coffees with a crisp acidity and fruity notes.
