Product Details

We’ve sourced our latest Kenyan coffee from the border of two of the country’s most famous coffee-growing regions, Nyeri and Murang’a. Sharp, sweet and slightly spicy, it’s a magnificent alternative to our classic Kenya Peaberry, with surprising fruit notes and a luxuriously lingering aftertaste.
The Ndiara Coffee Factory uses the fully washed method to process their coffees, giving them a clean taste profile that highlights the fruitier flavours in the bean. Drink it without milk as a morning pick-me-up: with tangy notes of cherry, blackberry, dried fruit and cinnamon, it’s sure to kick your taste buds into gear.

Brew the perfect cup

To highlight the bright, bold flavours of this light roast, we’d recommend brewing with a filter method: an AeroPress, a syphon or a dripper like the V60 work well. When making coffee always use freshly drawn and boiled water – wait a few seconds for the water to cool so you don’t scald the grinds. Cardinal rule? Never reheat brewed coffee: freshness is everything.

Kenyan coffee is often ideal for a light roast, yielding bright, fruity notes with a sherbet sweetness. Most Kenyan coffee is produced by cooperatives of smallholdings rather than large estates, and the best varieties are often thought to come from the central region of Kenya, though the western regions are now gaining in popularity. Our Kenyan coffee comes from the famous central region of Nyeri, where rich red soil around the extinct volcano Mont Kenya produces a consistently excellent crop.

A note from Whittard

“I love a lighter roast, particularly fruitier African coffees. At the moment I’ve been starting the day with a fresh, strong cup of Kenya Peaberry – it’s deliciously sweet, like cherry jam.”
