Product Details

We’re delighted to present a limited edition coffee with a rather unusual story – and a dazzling taste profile to match. Produced entirely by women in the region of Huehuetenango, this is a gloriously creamy brew with notes of lime and sweet toffee that linger on the tongue after every sip.
The Asdecafe cooperative was formed with a strong focus on sustainability and quality, and uses half of the premium from this particular lot to fund a program chosen by its female producers: this year the money’s being used to provide vital medical care for the community. The passion that’s gone into producing this coffee is clear from the taste – think key lime pie with a smidgeon of chocolate.

Jesuit missionaries first introduced coffee to Guatemala in 1750, and the prime reason for Guatemala’s coffee success is its geography: cultivated under shade at a range of altitudes from 1,600ft – 16,000ft, the plantations produce beautiful, complex Arabica beans. Today coffee is Guatemala’s primary export, with about 25% of the country’s population making their living from the coffee trade. With an extraordinary depth of flavour, ranging from the fruity and sweet to deeper notes of spiced cocoa, these are among the most popular coffees in our range…

A note from Whittard

“I love a lighter roast, particularly fruitier African coffees. At the moment I’ve been starting the day with a fresh, strong cup of Kenya Peaberry – it’s deliciously sweet, like cherry jam.”
