With complex flavours of hazelnut and a citrus, and a rich, spicy aftertaste, our latest limited edition is a wonderful ambassador for Nicaraguan coffee. Roger Peralta and his family have been growing coffee since 1920 – so the extraordinary quality of this brew should come as no surprise.
The Peraltas’ Finca la Argentina farm is renowned for its ethical and environmental standards, achieving Rainforest Alliance certification in 2010. Shaded by a stunning variety of indigenous trees, the coffee grown here matures with a richness and complexity that’s highlighted by different brewing methods – get experimenting!

Origin

Nicaragua

The tropical topography of Nicaragua provides the perfect climate for coffee growing, but the country’s coffee industry was greatly disrupted by revolution and civil war in the late 20th century. After peace was agreed farmers had to start from scratch, focusing on organic methods and environmental sustainability; since then, the country has yielded some truly spectacular coffees. The beans tend to benefit from a light roast to highlight their natural brightness, while a medium roast will bring out nutty top notes and softer tones of papaya and apricot.

A note from Whittard

“I’m a bit of a creature of habit, so I go for the same two coffees every time: medium roasted San Agustin Colombia in the morning, smoky Old Brown Java in the evening. Love it!”
