Additional Information
Nestled in an exclusive corner of Darjeeling and elevated high in the Himalayan foothills, the climate in Margaret's Hope encourages the slow growth of their tea bushes. Over the long, cool winter months the ancient tea bushes hibernate and store up all their flavour, so that when spring begins and the plants burst back into life, they provide an intense, crisp flavour. The first leaves of the season, the ‘first flush’, is something that can never be replicated again during the rest of the year.

Full Description
The first flush of this slow-grown, high-altitude Darjeeling tea is harvested in late March annually. The harvest lasts for just a few weeks every year, with the young, fresh leaves quickly picked and whisked away for Whittard customers to enjoy. Only 500kg is available, making it the finest and most exclusive tea release of the year.
With a fresh, crisp aroma and a delicately fruity flavour, it’s the perfect example of what makes First Flush Darjeeling the finest tea. Serve in a glass teapot so you can enjoy the tea’s glorious golden hue as the silver-tipped leaves unfurl…

Margaret's Hope
Planted out in this lovely location, about a century ago, the unusual name 'Margaret's Hope' was given to the garden in 1927, by the owner Mr. Cruikshank. His daughter, Margaret, enchanted by the beauty of this garden, was deeply attached to the place. Before leaving for England, she promised to return. Unfortunately, she died of a lethal tropical disease on board the ship, never to return.
Thus, her dream remained unfulfilled and her father christened the garden in her memory. Earlier the garden was known as Bara -Ringtong. Two pretty rivers flow through the estates. The teas grow at elevations of 915 metres to 1830 metres and are predominantly China bushes. Margaret's Hope, is as romantic a place as its name suggests.
