Assam, the land of storm clouds and rolling fertile plains, is where a small-leafed, strong-tasting wild tea was found by the British in the 19th century. Since Mr Whittard's day, we have been selling this gloriously strong and rich amber tea. We still use leaves rolled in a traditional method to give our blend its strength and malty character.

Ingredients

Brew the perfect cup

Ideally warm the pot first with a splash of hot water. Use one teabag per cup and always use freshly drawn and boiled water. Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes according to taste. Can be drunk with or without milk.

A note from Whittard

“I’m a big fan of our Mango & Bergamot – the coloured petals look lovely against the green tea leaves, and I like to store it in glass sweetshop jars on my kitchen shelf.”

- Marie Laure, Covent Garden Store Manager

India

The story goes that coffee was brought to India by the 17th century pilgrim Baba Budan, who smuggled seven coffee seeds out of Yemen on his return from Mecca. He planted the seeds in the lush southern state of Karnataka, the home of our much-loved Monsoon Malabar. Indian coffee tends to be sweet, creamy and low in acidity, maturing slowly in the shade to increase the natural sugars of the bean, and cultivated alongside crops of cardamom, cloves and cinnamon for a light hint of spice.

* * * * * Best tea ever! by Daniel & Sherrie on 2nd May 2015

We have been drinking tea for 30 years and have never had such amazing tea until we found your Assam. It's rich, deep, dark and satisfying flavor starts our day with joy! We always order extra boxes so we can pass it out to fellow tea lovers. Everyone we share it with here in the U.S. loves it! Rave reviews and many thanks for such grand tea, great prices and fast delivery. A true quality product!! Thank you again!!

* * * * * What Tea? by Göran Mether on 31st December 2014

This Assam tea is of course the best. But the delivery is, let´s put it nicely, kind of slow. The tracking system partner you are using reported that my parcel was picked up on the day of order. The next tracking message I received nine (9) days later. At that time the parcel had been delivered to the Heathrow HUB. It must have been a long way to transport. That was two days ago. Of course I live up in the North (in Stockholm, Sweden) and we have snow on the ground. But we have several daily flights arriving from Heathrow. May be they didn´t have space enough on any of those for my tea package. I´m still waiting. May be next year is better.
