The perfect match for a slice of cake...

The Happy Valley Estate at the foothills of the Himalayas is one of the oldest and most renowned tea gardens in Darjeeling. As a Second Flush tea, the slightly later harvest yields a more developed and slightly nutty taste while maintaining the muscatel sweetness so characteristic of a good Darjeeling.

There’s a certain richness to the cup which makes it the perfect match for a slice of cake.

  • Origin

    India, Darjeeling

  • Tastes like

Slightly nutty with a touch of muscatel

  • When to drink

    Afternoon

Ingredients

Brew the perfect cup

Ideally warm the pot first with a splash of hot water. Use one teaspoon (around 2g) per cup and always use freshly drawn and boiled water. Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes according to taste. Can be drunk with or without milk.

A note from Whittard

“I’m a huge oolong fan – the sheer diversity of different flavours is pretty mind-boggling. My favourites are the creamy, almost buttery high grown oolongs grown in Taiwan.”

India

The story goes that coffee was brought to India by the 17th century pilgrim Baba Budan, who smuggled seven coffee seeds out of Yemen on his return from Mecca. He planted the seeds in the lush southern state of Karnataka, the home of our much-loved Monsoon Malabar. Indian coffee tends to be sweet, creamy and low in acidity, maturing slowly in the shade to increase the natural sugars of the bean, and cultivated alongside crops of cardamom, cloves and cinnamon for a light hint of spice.

A truly refreshing tea, with a very clean and satisfying flavour that just bursts into life in the mouth! Whilst a little dear- the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars- it goes much further than cheaper teas and once tasted, you realize that you had never before tasted a truely good tea.
