Flowery Earl Grey Tea is a fantastic variation of Whittard’s ever-popular classic Early Grey. Made from full-bodied, smooth Chinese black tea with the flavour of bergamot and the addition of beautiful blue cornflowers, it exudes oriental exoticism.

A deliciously fragrant tea, with a sweet perfumed aroma and a lovely appearance, it is the ideal choice for the afternoon.

Whittard’s superior tea pyramids are made from sheer bio-degradable mesh. This allows the whole leaves to infuse perfectly in your cup, offering the refined taste you get from tea leaves but with all the convenience of a teabag.

Ingredients

Brew the perfect cup

For the perfect cup of Flowery Earl Grey Tea, use one pyramid per cup and always use freshly drawn and boiled water. Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes or according to taste. Can be drunk with milk, or without milk, with a slice of lemon.

A note from Whittard

“I don’t respond that well to caffeine, so I tend to go to our fruit and herbal infusions. Baked Apple is one of my favourites, and rooibos is lovely as a caffeine-free breakfast tea.”

China

The Chinese invented paper, gunpowder and the compass. But their finest innovation has to be tea, reputedly first discovered by the emperor Shen Nong in 2737 BCE. Originally prepared as a medicinal brew, tea became a drink in its own right during the Han Dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE), and today China produces thousands of different varieties ranging from black, green and white tea to oolong, puerh and yellow tea. If you’re looking for a bit of teatime reading take a look at Lu Yu’s ‘Tea Classic’: first written in 780 CE, it covers everything from cultivation methods to tea etiquette…

Lovely for afternoon tea with a cake. Its more delicate taste when compared to traditional Earl Grey means it complements rather than overwhelms.
