A great thirst-quenching tea...

This deliciously smooth tea from Southern India has an irresistibly fresh and clean taste, making it perfect for drinking in the afternoon.

Nilgiri refers to the area the tea is grown in, amongst the Nilgiri or Blue Mountains in the south of India. Kala Moti describes the leaves of this very special tea, and literally translates as black pearls, hinting at its exotic, precious quality. Grown at an altitude of over 2,000 metres, 6,500 feet, the leaves produce a soft, delicate tea that is full of flavour.

Instantly refreshing, Nilgiri Kala Moti is a great thirst-quenching tea that makes you want to drink cup after cup.

A note from Whittard

“I love staging themed afternoon teas, and at the moment I’m trying out some of our more bizarre blends, like Bohemian Raspberry and Blueberry Rooibos!”

India

The story goes that coffee was brought to India by the 17th century pilgrim Baba Budan, who smuggled seven coffee seeds out of Yemen on his return from Mecca. He planted the seeds in the lush southern state of Karnataka, the home of our much-loved Monsoon Malabar. Indian coffee tends to be sweet, creamy and low in acidity, maturing slowly in the shade to increase the natural sugars of the bean, and cultivated alongside crops of cardamom, cloves and cinnamon for a light hint of spice.

This is, in my opinion, the best tea there is. Wonderful complex flavor--adding milk or sugar would be a desecration! (though it's probably pretty good that way, too . . . .)

Delicious light smoky flavor. Perfect for an afternoon tea.
