Picked at dusk when the scent of the blooms is most intense...

One of our most popular teas, these hand-rolled pearls of green tea have been crafted for matchless clarity of taste, characterised by distinctive floral notes of jasmine.

A speciality of Fujian Province in China, the youngest silver tips and buds of the tea leaf are layered with whole jasmine blossoms, picked at dusk when the scent of the blooms is most intense.

Left to absorb the oils of the flowers overnight, the leaves are then rolled into small, delicate pearls, producing a gloriously aromatic tea which can be infused multiple times.

A Gold winner in the 2012 Great Taste Awards, the judges admired its “good liquor, good colour and good jasmine.”

Brew the perfect cup

Ideally warm the pot first with a splash of hot water. Use one teaspoon (around 2g) per cup and use freshly drawn water which is heated to around 80 degrees. You can either pour the water before it reaches boiling point or allow the water to sit for a few minutes afterwards. Allow to brew for 2-3 minutes according to taste. Should be drunk without milk.

A note from Whittard

“I’m a huge oolong fan – the sheer diversity of different flavours is pretty mind-boggling. My favourites are the creamy, almost buttery high grown oolongs grown in Taiwan.”

- Bethan, Specialist Tea Buyer

The Chinese invented paper, gunpowder and the compass. But their finest innovation has to be tea, reputedly first discovered by the emperor Shen Nong in 2737 BCE. Originally prepared as a medicinal brew, tea became a drink in its own right during the Han Dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE), and today China produces thousands of different varieties ranging from black, green and white tea to oolong, puerh and yellow tea. If you’re looking for a bit of teatime reading take a look at Lu Yu’s ‘Tea Classic’: first written in 780 CE, it covers everything from cultivation methods to tea etiquette…

A real treat for tea lovers! Agree that the price is a little....wooooah....but the taste is great and with my mug infuser you can keep topping it up and get the most out of each pearl!

Although this tea is really the best I have tasted in a long time, but do you really expect us to travel to the nearest Whittards shop from Brighton to Bromley each time to collect 1 packet of tea. Whittards are you mad!! WHY NO SHOP IN BRIGHTON!! WE are the capital of the SOUTH.

By far the best green tea I have had. One cup only needs one pearl which unravels as it absorbs the water. There is no bitterness which is usually a tone of other green teas. It's a price worth paying!

As a jasmine lover, I adore this tea. The taste is so good, you can brew it twice, the aroma is lasting. Totally worth the spicy price. Enjoy!
