This Jasmine Tea & Infuser set is a wonderful introduction to this hugely popular and delicately floral green tea from China. Beautifully elegant, Jasmine is a great-tasting and reviving tea to enjoy throughout the day.

Its exquisite taste is achieved through its very precise preparation. The intensely aromatic Jasmine flowers are picked at dusk, just when their scent is headiest. At night-time they are layered with the long leaves of fine green tea, the petals infusing with their perfume. The result is a sweet, aromatic tea that captivates the senses.

The presentation pouch is printed with a traditional Oriental design that captures the delicate flavour and Chinese origins of Jasmine Tea. Supplied with a stylish silver-plated infuser, ideal for making the perfect cup of tea for one, the set makes a lovely gift for any tea drinker.

  • Origin

    China, Fujian Province

  • Tastes like

    Sweet jasmine

  • When to drink

    Throughout the day

Brew the perfect cup

For the perfect cup of Jasmine Tea measure ½ a teaspoon of tea (around 1g) into the silver-plated infuser for one cup or add 1-2 teaspoons of tea for a 6-cup pot. Pour over freshly drawn water that has been heated to 80 degrees and leave to brew for 2-3 minutes. Should be drunk without milk.

A note from Whittard

“I love staging themed afternoon teas, and at the moment I’m trying out some of our more bizarre blends, like Bohemian Raspberry and Blueberry Rooibos!”

- Cianne, Southampton Marlands Store Manager

The Chinese invented paper, gunpowder and the compass. But their finest innovation has to be tea, reputedly first discovered by the emperor Shen Nong in 2737 BCE. Originally prepared as a medicinal brew, tea became a drink in its own right during the Han Dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE), and today China produces thousands of different varieties ranging from black, green and white tea to oolong, puerh and yellow tea. If you’re looking for a bit of teatime reading take a look at Lu Yu’s ‘Tea Classic’: first written in 780 CE, it covers everything from cultivation methods to tea etiquette…

* * * * * Present for a tea loving friend in Canada by Claire Head on 14th July 2015

Purchased this as a gift for a friend in Canada who loves tea and Alice in Wonderland too- so know she will adore this . Just praying it gets to her safely as sometimes the post to Canada is not that reliable. Adored the look of it as well as the tea infuser looked gorgeous! One day will get this for myself as a treat, too.
