This classic combination is one of the earliest flavoured teas. Long, sticky vanilla pods, among the world's most expensive spices, are harvested by hand for their heavy sweetness. The flamboyance of this spice contrasts perfectly with the clean taste of black tea to produce a deliciously fresh and fragrant drink.

Brew the perfect cup

Ideally warm the pot first with a splash of hot water. Use one teabag per cup and always use freshly drawn and boiled water. Allow to brew for 3-5 minutes according to taste. Can be drunk with or without milk.

A note from Whittard

“I’m a huge salted caramel fan, so it’s fair to say I was pretty fussy when it came to the recipe for our Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate – it took months to perfect, but I’d say it’s the very best one out there!”

- Lucy, Specialist Cocoa Assistant Buyer

Ever since our founder Walter Whittard weighed out tea leaves behind his high mahogany counter, we’ve been experimenting with our own inventive blends. The Chinese were the first to try blending tea leaves with fruits and flowers and it takes time, skill and imagination to master the art. It’s all about creating the perfect balance of flavours: we blind taste at least 20 different variations before settling on the perfect recipe. Just as some musicians have perfect pitch, an expert tea blender needs to have some pretty perceptive tastebuds…

I drink this tea every day, but as our local branch closed we have to make a twice yearly trip to bulk buy enough teabags to last us 6 months. Great flavour and the only tea I can drink first thing in the morning.

Have tried lots of Vanilla Tea's but this is by far the best.

This is my 'go-to' tea!! My everyday tea! I love a nice cup with dark chocolate digestive biscuits!!! Going to miss it sooooo much when I move back to the states!

Have been trying to find a nice vanilla tea after trying one from Oz called Melbourne Breakfast (cant get it in the UK at all) Lovely brew, definately one for the winter months. Makes you feel all warm inside.

* * * * * The best tea ever by Sue Linford on 23rd July 2013

This is my favourite tea. It has a beautiful hint of vanilla and is pure luxury in a cup. I became addicted to vanilla tea after my sister brought some Bois Cheri vanilla tea back from Mauritius and I was very sad when it had all gone. I was delighted to discover Whittard’s vanilla tea, (which in my opinion it is even nicer than the Mauritian one). As other reviewers have said, I hope Whittard don’t stop making this wonderful tea and a decaff version would be an added bonus to the range.

My favourite tea for years. Black tea gives it a beautiful colour and fragrance, and rounded flavour, and the hint of vanilla makes this tea special. I hope Whittard never stops making it!

* * * * * 50 teabags won't be enough by Andrea Navarro Luque on 7th February 2012

In Spain it's impossible to buy a tea like this one in normal stores so I decided to order it. At first I thought the delivery cost was, maybe, too expensive. Now I don't think so. Everything about this tea is well-worthy! I'll just keep on buying it forever.

Absolutely love this tea! Have been buying it for years from the stores, however there are now no stores near to me, when I went to the nearest one, about 20 miles away, they didn't have any so I thought I would check out the website. very simple & efficient to use, but the tea is much more expensive, last time in store I paid £1.75 per box. Also the cost of delivery seems expensive & it took a week to arrive! Next time I see a store I will be buying their entire stock!

First bought this at Heathrow in 2006 and got hooked. I've been ordering it ever since.

* * * * * Just as good as the loose version by Mary on 14th May 2011

Kind of expected this to not be as good as the vanilla loose tea, but it really is, which is a bonus for ease. Also started taking them to work - except I have to keep the box in a drawer or it gets pinched by envious co-workers!
