Earl Grey meets elderflower cordial…

Inspired by elderflower cordial sipped at the height of summer, we've blended a bright, crisp Ceylon tea with hedgerow elderberries and delicate white speckles of elderflower blossoms. Flavours of bergamot bring a fragrant quality to the cup and the subtlest suggestion of that traditional Earl Grey taste - lovely for those looking for something a little lighter at afternoon tea. Blending the taste of tradition with the pure, floral flavours of an English summer, this is a tea of Sunday cricket matches and gossip on the allotment.

* * * * * Works well with breakfast too, surprisingly. by KizzyKat on 23rd March 2017

Being Autistic I find the leaves dry scent overwhelmingly strong. Like a heavy perfume. I recieved it in mini caddy form as a birthday present, with the Alice tea for one. Initially I was confused & later on I admit was very tearful. I think it was over the caddy shade of blue as well as the strong scent xD as i prefer pastel blues to what may be either powder or duck egg blue, as it chills me out. But, there seem to be no pastel shades in the empty tea caddy range. It didn't compute with me at the time. But, after that confusion was over, i was brave enough to try it the next day. It's obviously very different from the regular/standard earl grey that I was used to in tea bag form, from a different company. I was pleasantly surprised, that it was relatively rather delicate once brewed after about 4minutes, and just the right amount of sweetness. I used the recommended amount on the tin, but for two cups worth instead of one. I've come to associate the caddy colour with my fondness for the tea. ~~\(^__^)/~~ now I have it sugar & milk free every day since, for breakfast with plain semolina porridge and oat biscuits xD at least for my tastes, it goes rather well. As if it all works together to bring about a good level of sweetness & flavours. I ordered more from here last night in the cardboard pouch, as I'm concerned I'll run out in the next week or two. I'm very close to half way through the tin since the 14th of March. I happily noticed when emptying the infusor, the wee pale yellow flowers are quite pretty. I think it's now one of my favourite types of tea and a positive part of my daily routine, so I may keep returning for refills when possible xD either via website, or return to the Edinburgh shop if I can. It's really inspired me to attempt to be even more brave with tea & i purchased 4 more types of Whittards tea to try ~~\(0.0)/~~ I'm looking forward to expanding my tea options (^____^)

This is a really delicious flowery tea, but very subtle. The elderflower gives a lovely unusual taste, but does not overwhelm. I have been drinking it quite weak.

This is the greatest taste of Earl Grey I ever had! The Earl Grey with light sweet smell makes the tea taste great. Very refreshing morning or afternoon flavour!

Sri Lanka

Known by the country’s original colonial name, Ceylon, Sri Lankan tea is one of the world’s most popular single origin varieties. However, its success is one of those surprisingly flukes of history. Coffee plantations were originally the country’s main economic resource and it wasn’t until the 1860s that the Scottish pioneer James Taylor planted the first tea bush. He wasn’t having much luck, but when a sudden blight devastated the coffee plantations the Sri Lankan tea industry took centre stage. The tea’s clean, brisk taste proved a real hit at the London tea auctions and the British have never looked back…
