Winners of our Mother's Day Competition

We asked you to tell us why your Mum is the best and we received hundreds of touching entries. Here is the winner, who will be receiving a fine bone china teaset and set of loose leaf tea to surprise her mum with on Sunday:

Sophia, of Mid Glamorgan's winning entry was:  “My mum is the best because …although I don’t get to see her as often as we would both like, she is always at the other end of the phone and we speak several times a day most days! She always listens to me rambling on and is always there for me. She is my best friend as well as my Mum and I can’t wait to make her a nan for the first time in the next 6 week”

Our five runners-up, who will win a set of Vintage Rose classic leaf tea  are:

Chloe of Southampton "My Mum is the best because ... she raised four children and when we all moved out, she missed being a mum so much she is now a foster mum and has fostered over twenty children so far, giving them the best start in life, like me and my brothers and sisters were lucky enough to have. She fosters four children at any one time, and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon! She was born to be a Mum and she is a damn fine one at that!"

Heather of Plymouth, “My Mum is the best because … she would always make time for tea with all of us children. Even now as I am an ocean away from her, she still shares her tea time with over Skype. What an amazing mother!”

Hannah of Emsworth, “My Mum is the best because ...as a vicar she has a very stressful life (not to mention that she lots and lots of cups of tea on her rounds! Tea Vicar?) and loves having her evening tea when she gets back from work. She helps me so much, and if I win this set, then I can brighten her day a little more by giving her her evening tea in this beautiful teaset! I love my Mum!”

Theresa of Market Drayton, “My Mum is the best... because when once she sat me on knee and loved my scrapes all better. She now makes a cup of tea. Just like a hug, but better!”

Hazel of Liverpool, “My Mum is the best... because she is a volunteer teacher who teachers children who have special needs or who have fallen behind with their education for a variety of reasons such as they may be a carer to their sick parent. My Mum also works as a volunteer for Liverpool NHS, helping families come to terms with terminal illness. Mum is an inspiration to me and taught me how to be a strong and positive Mum, in order for me to the best and supportive Mum for my children. My Mum will do anything for anyone.”

Thank you again to everyone who entered, it was a pleasure to read all of your entries and a tough decision choosing the winners!
